自幼學習鋼琴與創作。先後畢業於國立台灣師範大學、法國布隆尼音樂院、法國國立巴黎高等音樂院，旅法九年許，後數度參與「躬耕書院陳其鋼音樂工作坊」，深獲啟發。

其音樂作品以精緻的聲響、扎實的配器功力與巧思、細膩而諧趣的個性，融合自身理解之東方文化與哲學，展現獨樹一格、神秘而變幻無窮之特色。作品編制涵蓋管弦樂、大小型室內樂暨重奏、獨奏、以及電子音樂等，發表遍及法國、德國、英國、奧地利、芬蘭、克羅埃西亞、日本、美國、臺灣、新加坡、中國等地。
 
目前任教於高雄師範大學音樂系所；持續以作曲家身分展演、活躍於國內外新音樂舞台，並竭力推廣當代音樂及結合深耕與創新之音樂藝術教育。

Hao-Yuan Chiu is a composer who began studying piano and composition at an early age. He graduated from National Taiwan Normal University, the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Boulogne-Billancourt then the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in France, where he studied for approximately nine years. He subsequently participated several times in the Chen Qigang Music Workshop organized by Gongeng Academy, an experience that proved to be a profound source of inspiration.

His music is distinguished by refined sonorities, assured and inventive orchestration, and a subtle yet playful character. Drawing on his personal understanding of Eastern culture and philosophy, his works reveal a distinctive artistic voice, marked by mystery and ever-changing transformations. His output encompasses orchestral music, chamber music and ensembles of various sizes, solo works, and electronic music. His compositions have been performed in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Finland, Croatia, Japan, the United States, Taiwan, Singapore and China.

He currently teaches in the Department of Music at National Kaohsiung Normal University. Continuing his work as a composer, he remains active on the contemporary music scene in Taiwan and internationally. He is also dedicated to promoting contemporary music and fostering music education that combines deep-rooted artistic traditions with innovation.
