路易斯的創作經常從大自然以及各種傳統與流行音樂中汲取靈感，特別是加勒比海的聲音景觀。他在作品中對傳統與現代進行對比，通過重置這些元素來進行創新，並探索隱約呈現、消解與散佈的意象。

他在波多黎各音樂學院開始學習作曲，並獲得了作曲獎及羅伯托·I·費爾德曼獎。隨後，他在扎萊斯基基金會的支持下，赴巴黎繼續深造，最終在巴黎國立高等音樂舞蹈學院（CNSMDP）及IRCAM完成碩士學位。他曾在多個國際作曲比賽中獲獎，包括2020年莫斯科「新古典」國際作曲比賽第一名、雅尼·謝納基斯國際電子音樂比賽（希臘）第一名、薩爾瓦托·馬提拉諾獎（美國）以及日本伊勢志摩藝術委員會大獎。最近，他獲得了法國藝術院2022年作曲獎（皮爾·卡丹獎）及2024年約翰·西蒙·古根漢紀念基金會獎學金。

他的作品曾在全球多個重要場地展出，包括「顯現節」（Festival Manifest）、巴黎國立現代藝術博物館（龐畢度中心）及日本的Born Creative音樂節。他還與多個知名樂團合作，如當代樂團（Ensemble Intercontemporain）、瞬間樂團（L’Instant Donné）以及伊利諾伊當代樂團（Illinois Modern Ensemble）。

Luis Quintana is a Puerto Rican composer based in France whose work spans instrumental, vocal, and electronic music, as well as sound installations. Drawing on Caribbean soundscapes, the textures of the natural world, and echoes of diverse musical lineages, his music inhabits a space where tradition and nature dissolve into sound — blending pulse with texture and swaying between popular and savant, ritual and abstraction.

A graduate of the Paris National Conservatory (CNSMDP) and IRCAM’s Cursus program, Quintana has collaborated with ensembles and musicians internationally and received numerous distinctions, including the Composition Prize from the Académie des Beaux-Arts in France (2022) and a 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship.
